Pranayama – The Breath of Yoga!

There is an invariable connection between the mind and breathing. Every state of mind is reflected by a corresponding change in the breathing pattern. Researches have shown when mind is disturbed, breath also gets disturbed. This imbalance in breathing disturbs the physiological functions and overtime become pathological. Disease such as asthma, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, hyperacidity etc is the results of such imbalances. Such diseases further disturb the mind and so the breath in turn; and the feedbacks continue aggravating the disease status. This vicious cycle can be cut by either pharmacological interventions or simple Yoga Techniques.

Game of STRESS – What level are you on?

In the earlier years man suffered stress. They were probably afraid of attack by wild animals, or dying of hunger or cold. The reaction was simple –‘Fight or Flight’. Unfortunately, in today’s times life is not as simple. Today, the stress situations are either too complex like crash of stock market, environmental pollution, threat of nuclear war or these situations are too mundane to be overlooked like traffic jams, misplacing car keys, foul-ups at work,  concern about weight gain and the list goes on. In this sense people are often seen as passive helpless victims of the stress phenomenon.

‘Satya’ (being truthful) – a gateway to lasting happiness!

Truth in a civilized society undergoes multiple tests – Is it the Truth? Is it beneficial or harmful? Is it pleasant or unpleasant? Only when it passes all such stages does it qualify of being an acceptable ‘Truth’. Speaking this ‘Truth’ make us a social, law abiding, acceptable individual in the society. However, such ‘Truth’ rather ‘Untruthfulness’ over a period of time puts our system out of harmony by creating mental and emotional stresses leading to a complicated unfulfilling life. State of Art

“State of Art Hospital equipment – NOW available for HOME”, said a flyer that I received at one of the conferences recently. I remember using this phrase ‘State of art’ for the first time when we were video-shooting to promote one of the office buildings’. It was a moment of pride!
